Chaturanga, the Indian chess

I was surprised to see a new toy, known as Chaturanga, being marketed in the US. The people selling the game claim that the game will "transport you back through the ages, back to the time of the Vedic Rajas of India"! Oh yeah, How amazing, I wonder if anyone would really fall for this statement. The interesting thing is that they are crediting the game to be the origin of the modern day chess. From the picture, it looks like the pawns have been artistically carved and the dice seem to be of the longer variety (Shakuni style!)

Yet another example of India being perceived as a land of cows and snake charmers and a rich ancient history. I Hope India will be soon credited for its present-day achievements too.
